rain on me

I enter second year as a pessimist. AHH what was i thinking! To register for 2 level-3000 modules and a language module all at one go. Add the vast difference in level of maturity in thinking to it (read: a 3rd year defined 'nature' as 'a landscape without politics' - nice, short, and brief - making me feel small about my 'portions of earth untouched by man') and i worry about whether i've just killed my chances of ever improving my cap score. I haven't even signed up for tutorials yet but all my lecture outlines tell me that it's gonna be one hectic sem. A tie-up with NSW in australia plus another (can't rem the name) in canada for one of my geog modules where each group has to consist of 5 sporeans, 3 canadians and 2 australians (how on earth are we supposed to communicate!?), plenty of essays and short fiction stories to write that has to be at least 8000-10000 words long (where i seriously thought the lecturer accidentally typed in too many zeroes -.-), learning french where i went 'hah?' throughout most of the first tutorial -- All that, and with my brain as rusty as a nail left in water - err it will rust when left in water right - cos i haven't had the discipline to sit down to complete even a serious book at all during these 3 months - and i worry.

Apart from that, i really think the geog lecturers should compile a coursepack for us to buy instead of uploading the articles onto the website for us to download and print out. Seriously a waste of time, with all the titles jumbled up in the list so that we have to painstakingly sort out which is relevant to the coming lectures and print out accordingly. And i hate how they give excuses like 'oh we HAVE TO SAVE THE TREES! that's why we didn't make buying a coursepack necessary' gah.

With all the money we're giving them, they should use it to plant more fast-growing trees mah. Then can make and use even MORE PAPER.

I will have to be a nerd and study hard if i ever want to get the chance to study in new zealand before i graduate. ): Alot of things just can't come easy sigh.

Speaking of studying then, one of the novels 'fistful of colours' that i have to read before the next lecture made me extremely grateful that im not living in the early 1900s. Seeing that im not even rich, i can't imagine being sold away as a concubine or bondmaid or having to be a slave to fussy abusive old ladies as well as the other type of slave to disgusting ahpek towkays. Eww. Thank God its the 21st century then. I shouldnt complain too much.

This afternoon has been one of the more exciting ones. A coughgrand wedding reception with a grand total of...13 witnesses, a digicam, a hp camera, and oh yeah of course, the bride and the groom. Are wedding roms in coffee places the in thing now? If they are, i'd rather be the oldest-fashioned, most outdated bride in the whole world when or if my turn ever comes. Whatever happened to gothic cathedrals with choirs singing with the loveliest echoes around, loud brass wedding bells announcing to the townsmen a couple just got married, lavish receptions at (lets not even talk about churches) fullerton one or shangri la or ritz or the whatnots.

Watching the wedding take place in coffeeclub left me cold.

And the first-accident curse has finally been broken, as allan says. Things can only get better now as my ego takes an almighty battering.
